Recent Obesessions: Beauty Edition
I did a post a while back about my obsessions for the winter and mentioned I'd be doing a recurring post around this theme so here we are for volume 2! I've been making a lot of changes (slowly but surely) to my beauty regimen in attempt to swap my products for non-toxic alternatives. After a little trial and error I've definitely found some winners that I am of course, obsessed with! Making my regimen 100% non-toxic is still a work in progress, but until then these products are definitely staples:

Juice Beauty Oil Cleanser
I wrote about this Juice Beauty Stem Cellular 2-in-1 Cleanser in my winter post and I'm writing about it again because I really like it that much. I've been double cleansing (if you're not familiar The Every Girl just posted a great article about it) using this first followed by my Acure gel cleanser. I've noticed my skin is much more balanced and doesn't feel like it's been stripped of all the moisture after cleansing. Usually I'll start with the oil cleanser, wipe down with a warm rag or cotton pad to get my makeup off, then follow up with the gel cleanser.
BeautyCounter Blusher stick in Umber
It's been hard to find a blush that matches brown skin because honestly a lot of the non-toxic options are not made with brown skin in mind and leave an ashy- look or don't have enough pigment to even show up on our skin. No beuno. This blush is EWG verified and just a dab of this rich rust shade goes a long way on my skin. The color is buildable so I'm sure someone with darker skin could use this shade and it would look great. I was hesitant to try a cream blush because my skin is oily, but so far I like it. It's dewy and doesn't make my pores look enormous like some powder blushes do (it's the glitter I think), and if I'm in a rush I can dab a little on my lips for a stained look too. I order my Beautycounter stuff online from my rep, Lauren Hanson
Acure Organic Argan Oil
I've been using Argan oil for my hair and skin for a while but this one is super light and luxurious so I love it. I bought it on Amazon on a whim because I was almost out and it was really inexpensive for organic. I added a few drops of Doterra Frankincense to help fade my dark spots and I put this on my skin after any serums before bed.
Shea Moisture Superfruit Hand & Body Scrub
I've been a Shea Moisture fan for a while and although recently it was acquired by Unilever, I'm not giving up on the brand just yet. (Maybe I'll share my thoughts about these things in a later post?) I love the company's mission, products, and will just keep monitoring the ingredients for quality. I've been using this body scrub for a while and I love the scent and how soft my skin feels after using it. Some of the ingredients include nourishing shea, cocoa, and mango butters.
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
I had been using a different vitamin C serum I found on Amazon but I read the fine print and realized it had some preservatives in it so I just bought this one from Mad Hippie. It's all natural and I have a few friends that swear by it, so I'd been wanting to test it out anyway. Vitamin C serum has many benefits including helping protect against sun damage, reducing discoloration, and stimulating collagen production. I'm all for every one of those benefits and I love how soft my skin feels after I use it.
I'm still working on swapping out some of my beauty staples for more non-toxic alternatives with the help of the Think Dirty app which my chiropractic colleague and non-toxic beauty entrepreneur Courtney Kahla introduced me to. I have my eye on some 100% Pure lipsticks but need to find a good brow pencil, primer and mascara. Open to any recommendations you guys have!
